Antivirus and SmartScreen warnings
RedPlus.exe and CrashHandler.exe are not code-signed. RedPlus.exe starts the editor and loads RED+ into it, which is also what some malware does. Windows Defender and other scanners sometimes flag it for that behaviour alone.
Windows protected your PC
The first time you start RedPlus.exe, Windows SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC".
- Click More info.
- Click Run anyway.
If RED+ will not start
- Look in Defender's Protection History.
- If a file from the RED+ folder is listed there, restore it.
- Add the RED+ folder as an exclusion, so the file is not quarantined again.
When a file is missing

gobos\ | The Light Cookie library is empty, and logs\RedPlusEditor.log has a line containing no light cookies in. |
RED_4gb.exe, in your Red Faction folder | RedPlus.exe makes a new one at the next start. |
Check a file
about\MANIFEST.txt in the RED+ folder lists the size and SHA-256 hash of every file in the package. Compare a file against it if you are not sure it is the one that came in the package.
